"There’s the Goodwill Outlet and a Goodwill Store at this address. The outlet sells things by the pound. There are large bins (see photos) that you dig through. It is sort of organized by the bin. Lots of digging for treasures. I found two totes that cost me $3.30 total. The Goodwill store looks like a department store. Very organized and great prices. Very friendly staff. I purchased a gorgeous cabinet for $31. Two gentlemen loaded it for me. There’s a large parking lot but it was packed. I had to drive around to find a space. Both stores were very busy."
"There are two different stores within this building's first floor. The normal Goodwill store and the Goodwill outlet. The outlet side is a mess. Everything is thrown into large bins. The only sorting they do is dividing sections into clothes, toys, shoes, purses and electronics. The majority of the toys are broken and are missing pieces, and the electronics are thrown into huge piles, and are often broken in the process. Care needs to be used when digging through the bins, as it is often you will find broken shards of plastic/glass crushed near the bottoms of the bins. There are also groups of people who spend every day there for hours. Whenever a new huge bin is brought out, these 'vultures' (that is how they act) gather around in packs surrounding the new bin. Once the employees say they are done bringing in the new bins, the madness ensues. The 'vultures' rip though everything, often throwing things around breaking things just so they can dig the fastest, grabbing anything and everything that may be of value. They fill up their boxes and multiple carts up to the brim with whatever they find. After they are done, most of the stuff left over is broken garbage. The 'vultures' buy anything of worth to resell, then just go back to it again, repeating the process everyday, all day. The store side is organized much better, much less chaotic and has slightly nicer things but their prices have steadily been going up. They are also branching out by selling their own line of new retail merchandise."
"This is crazy. I have never seen a Goodwill Outlet like this with no management around if there is any. Aggressive resellers start digging through the bins before the rotation is even finished and then move on to the next one. We looked for a manager, but the only person there was a blonde lady at the register. She did not even listen to us, she rolled her eyes and said there was no manager. We stayed for two hours and never saw anyone else working besides her. Other shoppers told us that these people are always like this, and even though complaints have been made, management if it exists does nothing. There is absolutely no authority here. At other Goodwill Outlets people get banned for breaking the rules, but here it is chaos. They really need a manager to keep this place in line."
"This was my first experience at a Goodwill Outlet and it was so cool! Highly recommend you wear gloves when you come and give yourself plenty of time to look through things, but you can definitely find some good treasures if you're willing to hunt. For reference: everything shown in the cart was $6 total."

"Big store with an outlet center attached. Well organized and good prices. They participate in the discount color day.. 50% off. The outlet store has huge tables with items piled high and the cost is by the pound. Their electronics are for sale in a separate section of the store. It’s worth stopping by to shop…bought a vintage chair, wool fedora, a couple of plaid shirts, and some denim jackets! Also bought 3 silk ties circa 1950s with embroidered dragons and a colorful bird $2.50 each"
"Love going to local Goodwill to check out what they have. Sometimes, I am looking for a particular item, and sometimes, I am just there to see what treasure I will stumble on. Tonight, I was there to see if I could fund any toddler toys. Serious score!!! There were a lot of educational toddler toys there. All of the toys were reasonably priced. They were all in good condition. I ended up getting 15 interactive toddler toys. Some were from leap frog. The staff was curious. This is a very large store, probably one of the largest I've seen. The restroom was clean."
"I always had a good experience but today on the outlet side the Caucasian lady customer service was rude as I informed her and she continued to run off with you mouth attempting to charge me different prices for weight items .. Betty you need better training on customer service for all kinds of customer everyone equal experience .. poor customer…."
"Fun place to shop, especially the bins. Employees are friendly and place is mostly clean. Sometimes the donations have bad smells on the outlet side. There are some cliques who regularly stay at the bins all day and hoard stuff in numerous shopping carts or large rolling containers, but I still find good things. There would be more for everyone if they weren't allowed to loiter there for the entire day."

"I drove 45 mins to Harrisonburg to visit the GW bins on Friday, July 11, 2025. The store was extremely clean inside and out. When I first walked in, it didn’t seem like a lot was available, I thought to myself, ‘Well this won’t take long.’ It did take a while, but I found a ton of great stuff, including Reed & Barton silver cake server, 100% cotton king size sheet set (super cute😍), Christmas decorations, top whistle tea kettle, and tons of name brand clothing and shoes. It does take time and patience to dig through the bins as everything is in disarray and can even have matching pieces in separate bins completely apart from each other. For instance, I found a Keen hiking sandal in one bin, found the other 3 isles over. The young man at the register that checked me out, was super friendly and informative. As we talked, I learned that the bins were considered to be low in stock that day and Mondays typically have a much more. I highly suggest wearing gloves while shopping, as the items are constantly being handled by so many shoppers, and in the clothing section there are some dirty worn garments (please donate AFTER washing). This was my first visit to bin shopping, and I was pleasantly surprised. I look forward to visiting this location again!🙂"
"We experienced discrimination from staff member, Mary. She is downright rude, unprofessional, and inappropriate. She abruptly and wrongfully invaded our personal space, pointed fingers in our faces, and scolded us before understanding the situation at hand. During this chaotic outburst, she directed her yelling and anger at a CHILD WITH A DISABILITY…rather than maturely addressing us, the adults. That is not only extremely concerning, but heartbreaking, leaving everyone present feeling extremely unsafe and unwelcome with her deranged behavior. She should be ashamed of herself. Without assessing the situation, Mary then unfairly threatened that we would be “kicked out”. This interaction was an unpleasant experience, and one that caused genuine harm. This isn’t just poor customer service, this is outright ableism, discrimination, a violation of basic human dignity, and nonetheless, A BREACH OF FEDERAL LAW… a direct violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Goodwill, of all places, should know better. Furthermore, this contradicts Goodwill’s mission statement of being “inclusive”. The franchise “prides” itself on employing individuals with disabilities, yet this is how customers WITH disabilities are treated?!? The irony is sickening. This kind of hypocrisy undermines every word of their statement and calls into question the integrity of its leadership. No one should have to face this kind of treatment when shopping. You cannot hide behind empty mission statements. The truth will come to light, and this injustice will not go unanswered. The community deserves to know how families with disabilities are truly treated here, by both employees and customers. Additionally, the overall environment was hostile and poorly managed, with entitled SCALPERS rummaging through bins like greedy pigs. Instead of addressing disruptive behavior from other customers, Mary misdirected her aggression toward a vulnerable child. This treatment is unacceptable. Goodwill should be disgraced to allow such toxic behavior like this under their name. To make matters worse, we generously gave Goodwill AMPLE time to address this issue and respond to our outreach, but they have failed to do so. As a result, this situation will now be escalated to federal and state enforcement authorities. We will file both a formal ADA complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice and a complaint with the BBB. We will also notify the state civil-rights agency and Attorney General’s office, alert local consumer watchdogs and media, and pursue every legal and public‑interest remedy available to ensure this violation receives full oversight. You have left us no choice. This will not be dropped. STEER CLEAR OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT!"
"Lovely employees at the register! I wish I could remember their names, but they are always so sweet and helpful and friendly, and make it a joy coming in. We love to treasure hunt, and are so, so grateful for Harrisonburg having the bins! My closet has never been so stuffed, and my bookshelf is overflowing with my TBRs now!"
"My husband and I arrived 30 minutes to closing mainly just to check it out quickly. We ended up getting a big bag full of summer clothes for only $17. This bin location is by far the best and cleanest I've been to. The closing staff were so friendly and genuinely happy, I can't wait to come back often!"

"Not sure what I expected. I knew that outlets had tubs to dig through, but I guess I imagined them being a bit more organized (maybe by item type, size, color even?). No, this place was an absolute, anxiety-inducing mess. I dug through a couple of bins, then ended up overwhelmed by the idea that I would probably have to spend hours there just to find anything my size in what can only be described as a clothing hurricane. I gave it two stars because it is probably my fault I didn't fully understand what I was getting into, and maybe this is just normal? I dunno, but I will likely never know because I doubt I will go to an outlet store again."
"Ah "the bins" as they are called in most re-seller groups. My first visit to this location. They don't like you taking photos or video so be discreet. Was told photos not allowed by staff. Separate electronics area that's priced more like a regular Goodwill. What's the point of that? Prices are way too high in this area. Everything is priced mid-eBay selling prices. No flipping items from here. The regular bins however not bad. I found plenty of junk for $14 I can use or sell. I am primarily a re-seller but I also buy and have found plenty of items for my personal use as well. I love the treasure hunt and if you do you probably already know all about it. This location however is kinda hidden in the back of what I always thought was just the Goodwill office building. For years I never knew this was even back here. You have to go around the building to the back! Check out the photos. Hit the thumbs up button for this review please! 👍👍👍👍"
"Not a good outlet store. Many of the other outlet stores weigh all the products by pounds. This "outlet" store has individual prices for almost everything. Was charged individual prices for cds, dvds, bag, and only few kitchen items were the weighed items. Even though I did not buy shoes or clothes, seemed like they were counting and ringing up those as individual items for persons in front of me. Not a good selection, or the to need to have been treated like a normal store to be individually charged items. First time visit and will not return."
"It's the bins. It's dirty. People grab armfuls of clothes to throw in their cart to then go through at their leisure and throw most of it back. You'll get elbowed for a shoe restock. The auctions happen behind a wall so it's loud first thing in the morning. Pretty slow rotations."

"It is a regular Goodwill store on one side and a Goodwill outlet store, otherwise known as a "pound store" on the other side. Prices are usually good on the retail side. You can find really good deals on the outlet side. I've scored some very good deals on old computer speakers, cookware and appliances, and all kinds of cables and power supplies for electronic items. They have a place you can test things before you buy. And the deals on books, sometimes very old books, can be great at $0.25.for paperback and $0.50 for hard cover. Definitely a place I try and visit whenever I go to Salem."
"The outlet store is my go to. Highly recommended. Picked up $175 worth of New Halloween stuff with tags still on for $9. You can also find sewing patterns for extremely cheap because it’s based on pounds. I found vintage sewing patterns in excellent condition here some weren’t even used. It’s all about continuously coming back and checking through all bins. I do recommend you bring gloves to search through some of the bins."
"Goodwill at Lakeside in Salem. Was traveling thru and stopped. Asked for restroom, was told there is none in the store, you have to go outside to the next store that is Goodwill Bins. What a terrible experience. That place was a zoo. 2 bathrooms, one was so nasty you couldn't walk in, the other wasn't as bad but no toilet paper or paper towels. Kids were running everywhere. People where aggressive. They should only allow so many in at a time. They definitely need more staff in both locations. We frequently visit thrift stores all over the country, this was by far our worst experience."
"Look at these adorable lil baskets that I got for less than a quarter total! I'm delighted to find out that there is a Goodwill Outlet within driving distance of my home; I will certainly be back. This thrift store is for the hardcore thrifters, not for the faint of heart. Everything is just thrown in bins; you will have to search to find anything good. I look forward to returning."

"Pretty cool place I have never been to a goodwill outlet. So i was not sure what to expect. My son like thrifting so we went. The place had huge bins with random stuff to look at. I didn't realize until check out items are charged by weight we got about 6 items or so for 2.63$ that was really cheap. It was fun to dig around for stuff. Probably could find some treasures if you looked hard enough."
"Best place to shop for second hand if you are willing to put in the time. Staff does their best to rotate as much product as possible rotating new bins for shoppers to dig through. The managers and staff are nice, friendly and helpful. I asked Dorian, one of the managers for some advise with the auctions and he took the time out of his busy day to help me and give me guidance."
"Before things go into our trash and city dumps loads of stuff off at the Goodwill. This gives people the chance to find those hidden treasures. Unlike traditional thrift stores that are becoming more expensive and unfair in the handling of items for second hand . This gives a different option with prices that are equal no matter the name on the item . Tables are filled with different items example household , toys , books , shoes , purses . Basic items. . with stable prices that don't change . Or exceed the value of second hand things . I didn't see any big items furniture jewelry vacuums bikes ect . I do think that most of those are purged before coming to Goodwill. If you have kids and looking for an affordable price that won't change . Clothes are by weight shoes by pair books per book. Household by weight . The second. Hand stores over the past few years have turned them into major profits and forgetting the reason for the store. To help prevent trash . To help people afford things they might not otherwise be able too,and to give back . Those things are lost to a time that put others needs over profit and gain . My only concern is if clothes are by weight it doesn't take much to get a single pound of clothing . I just found this place and will be exploring more and update my review as it fits"
"I absolutely LOVE this Goodwill outlet! I've been going since they first opened and it's been great.I shop multiple days each week. Every single employee that I've interacted with has been professional yet personable. I enjoy going due to the fact that the managers Doreon , Sabrina, and another lovely woman manager who's name I can't remember keep it clean and organized. I truly don't know how they deal with the constant demand of putting out enough bins to keep people happy. Kudos to all the employees!"
