"I'm not sure what's going on at this location. I went here around noon on a Friday. The original prices have changed and most of the store was blocked off. It didn't seem to be by weight anymore. I left & didn't buy anything. I noticed a "pop-up shop" banner on the outside of the building. Review from a couple months ago.... I have been here multiple times & there has consistently been a rude employee. Most times I just avoid her. Unfortunately when I went to check out she would not let me weigh a book by the book price. She made me pay the standard price instead of the cheaper book price. I was pretty upset. It ruined my shopping experience. . . About 20 minutes prior I had heard her yelling across the store because she had a disagreement with another customer. I like this location because it has half price days. Just keep in mind there is a lot of broken glass, several items that are trash, & an employee you have to avoid."

"This goodwill isnt what we expected. It used to be a clearance store for good will with bins. A subway and place to help with employment. It has been remodeled obviously. There's 3 stores now. A boutique and goodwill and a bookstore there now. I only went inside the goodwill but they seem to be interconnected at least the boutique. Its not your usual thrift store. Its seems catered to the upper class (hope im not being rude)? Its neat well organized. Quite crowed for a Wednesday at 3pm. Nice items for sure. And plenty of furniture brand new! Most items were sorted ""property> in their homes"" and packed so as not to break in an organized fashion. I enjoyed roaming around. But definelty different from the normal Goodwill thrift stores."

"I really loved this book store the first two times I visited with family. The selections and prices are great. However today was a VERY different story. We had grabbed some games that were priced at $1 and the lady working at the desk overcharged us at $3 a piece for multiple games and refused to refund us for the mistake. She stated “all sales are final and I can’t leave the front desk” & wouldn’t call anyone & wouldn’t go find anyone for us to correct this. She also tried to blame my father for “not showing her the tag” that’s ON THE BACK OF THE GAMES. Also I’m very offended by the horrible smell that came from the employee. I mean this in the most respectful way but someone needs to be having a conversation about hygiene. I was genuinely appalled by the smell and had to keep stepping away because it made me feel sick."

"I had no idea that Goodwill had a separate bookstore! Second Story is incredibly well-organized, clean, and tidy. Everything is clearly categorized, and the books are well-sorted. Most of the books are in great condition, and there’s a wide variety to choose from. I picked up a regular paperback fiction book for just $4 such a great deal! I absolutely loved this place."

"It's a typical Goodwill. I was a bit frustrated in the lack of labeling for price. For example, I looked at their books. There was no sign stating specific books were a specific cost. I saw no book with a sticker with a price. I went to the register to ask how they were priced and was told they were all the same price. I asked if that was the case with all sizes. I was told that was correct. So I found a few books and went to pay. The first question out if the cashier's mouth was doi you have any children's books. I asked why, I thought they were all the same price. She said no. This was THE SAME girl. This was maybe 5 minutes prior to checking out. I felt like she could have just made up whatever price she felt like giving me. I did not appreciate that moment."

"I’m very impressed by this good Will shop that has the best prices as well as a very organized book set up and clothing racks. I got a lot of children books for less than $2 each and nice shoes for $8. Nice to support charity, reduce consumer waste by buying on line or in a shop ie boxes plastic bags etc. 5 star experience!!!!!"

"Beware!! , Colin cashier today made me round my account for 0.73. I have worked at Goodwill and that is not allowed, they always have to ask before collecting.... all things are donated, so because this person charges without asking.... and I imagine he is the one who has the most rounds in his name in closing... please take care of this type of person.... goodwill does not pay taxes, so why should we pay extra for a $4.88 a piece shirt? He has to do that to all customers!! My husband paid for some books for my daughter and I went. COLIN saw me, and he don't charge the round up"

"To Whom It May Concern, I recently visited the Palmetto Goodwill store in Charleston, South Carolina, located adjacent to the corporate office. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing and left me questioning the level of care and oversight being applied to this location. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the condition of the exterior. The building appeared neglected, with layers of dirt and grime suggesting it hadn’t been pressure washed or properly cleaned in years. The lack of attention to the outside of the facility set the tone for what I would find inside. The entrance door was filthy and clearly hadn’t been wiped down in some time, and the trash can near the entrance was full and overflowing—something that creates a poor first impression and raises concerns about basic maintenance. Once inside, I was greeted kindly by the cashier and another gentleman near the front, both of whom were pleasant and professional. However, the positive customer service was overshadowed by the condition of the store itself. The shelves and racks were filled with low-quality, heavily worn, or damaged items—particularly in the men’s clothing section, which lacked any sort of organization or decent selection. I could not find a designated area for men’s shoes at all. The store as a whole felt neglected, disorganized, and uninspired—as though it lacked any sense of pride or care in its presentation or offerings. What struck me most, though, was the irony of this store being located right next to the multi-story corporate headquarters, which had a full parking lot—clearly indicating daily activity. And yet, despite this proximity, no effort seems to be made to ensure that the adjacent retail space is kept clean, welcoming, or even functional. It’s concerning that those who oversee operations at the highest level appear to walk past this building every day without taking notice of or action on its condition. As someone familiar with Charleston, I find it hard to believe that quality donations aren’t being received regularly. This raises further questions about whether higher-quality items are being diverted elsewhere, or simply not reaching the floor. In a city this size, the store’s poor condition and stock just don’t make sense. I write this letter not to criticize for the sake of complaint, but in the hope that someone will take these observations seriously and initiate meaningful improvements. A clean, well-run Goodwill store can be a beacon of opportunity for the community it serves. This location has the potential—but it desperately needs attention."

"I love this place, rock hill is lucky to have a bins store now. If youve been to other goodwill bins outlets, you’ll know that this facility is one of the nicest and cleanest. The bins are all clothes, with a row of shoes accessories and purses. A lot of goodwill mix multiple things in the bins so you need to know that coming here. You need to know that this is a pay by the pound place so dont expect the clothes to be sorted in any kind of way that’s not how goodwill outlets work. The workers that have feet on the ground need a raise bc I know they’ve been short staffed at times and they still hustle and make sure everyone’s following the rules which I SO appreciate. They work hard to keep this building clean and it is clean- which is something that makes shopping at the bins more pleasant. I see a lot of reviews here about their lack of rotation times- when they’re busy they rotate often and when they’re not they rotate once per hour it seems. I sometimes can only come in the evening, so I would really appreciate rotations still every hour until close but I’ve noticed they stop rotating around 6pm ish even if they close at 9. Also, more seating here would be much appreciated! All in all- I love this goodwill outlet store they do a great job!"

"As someone who has regularly visited this goodwills bins location as-well as others here is my opinion on the pros and cons of this location. Pros: the biggest strength of this location has to be the extremely clean building with amenities like places to sit between rotations, plenty of carts and even a water bottle refill. Additionally the Employees are kind and I’ve even had some nice conversations with what I assume to be the manger. While it could be a con for some the lack of hard goods bins is a benefit for those who mainly want to shop for clothing. Cons: The biggest con for this location has to be in my opinion the extremely apparent decline in the lack of variety of items rolled out over the past 6-8 months, to my understanding most items are unsold items from retail locations around town which of course is naturally going to produce more monotonous piles of clothing as it is more likely for the unique items to be pulled at the retail locations but it seems that these return / unsold piles are the obvious favorite of the store management as it is becoming painfully apparent these pre sorted bins are the only ones rolled out at this location compared to when the store first opened there was a better blend of not only returns / unsold items but also rags, and unsorted donations for example. I’m not sure if this a purposeful decision by management to cater to certain groups of customers that would rather not see items that might have potential flaws commonly found in the rag / unsorted donation piles but it has greatly decreased the enjoyment of digging for the possibility of finding something unique for shoppers like me. Another con being that the rotation times stated by the store as 20 minutes in various other responses is much closer to being past / around the 30 minute mark; Besides this the other cons aren’t particularly the stores fault such as that the location can get packed during peak hours so if you would like a more calm shopping experience it is better to show up in the later hours. In conclusion: Very clean location with friendly management / employees , but shop during off days either earlier or later in the day for a calmer shopping experience although don’t expect to find anything unique due to the managements preference to exclusively roll out cleaner presorted retail location return / unsold items which results in a more picked through item pool with less variety compared to other locations such as the newton or Asheville location. Overall had potential to be the best location in North Carolina and it probably was for a short period upon opening but due to the increasingly growing lack of variety pushed out to the floor it is overall a average location."

"Today was my first time at the Goodwill Outlet, and I loved it! The store is big, clean, well organized, and even smells good. The staff is friendly, and the customers were nice and respectful to each other—which is a big deal if you’re a reseller. The merchandise was pretty good, with some nice brands to find. I’d definitely recommend checking it out. Happy thrifting everyone! 😊"

"This place is pretty cool and definitely a good deal! They throw everything in bins and you have to dig/sort through each one but it is well worth the $1.99/lb to put in the work yourself. They have a small furniture section, books, some shelves with kitchen stuff and toys...but the real fun is the bins and bins of clothes, shoes, purses, scarves, and bags. All of the cashiers I have encountered have been pleasant and kinda, but Dominique really goes out of her way to make you feel special! Ive only been during the week and it gets a little crowded but is still tolerable. I dont know if Id go on the weekend since Im sure its swamped then but if youve got the patience and some time to kill, you can definitely find something worthwhile!"

"Wow, I’ve been to a lot of Goodwill outlets but this was the worst of all time. There are basically no clothes, just bins of junk and moldy unmatched shoes. I’m sure people find treasures here occasionally but the search is just too gross to make it worth it. 👎 …"

Autumn Weaver

"Something needs to change at this bins location, there are several people that hoard all the unopened bags and wait until they are done to open them and sort. It is extremely unfair. There was a lady that had 20 unopened bags that she was guarding, it is really frustrating for all the other shoppers. By the time she sorts through them a lot of people are gone so a lot of it goes unused. My recommendation would be to open all the bags and put them in the bins, this would make it way more fair and probably more clothing would be purchased by customers."

Leo

"Its a clean and great location with friendly staff. But sadly, it's become a wholesale warehouse for bottom-feeding businesses that come in to buy goods in bulk just to resell them at their overpriced stores. These bulk buyers compete with poor and needy families that made GW what it is and force GW to raise the prices, harming everyone in the process. There's a lady's review on here actually boasting of buying hundreds of pounds of items to take back to her community and sell for an overpriced markup to her neighbors that might be in need. If you see these vulture resellers, tell them how you feel."

Michaela Ferrar

"Do not shop here, extremely rude workers. There were two empty dressing rooms that were locked, and the employees up front would not unlock them for me. They kept saying that there were others open (that were being used.) My husband and I both asked, and they refused to unlock the door. The employee up front told me she was the only one working, even though I saw several employees come in and out from the back. I waited for 15 minutes for a dressing room, but after that treatment left all my clothes without trying anything, and left. Bad customer service. As a former customer service worker for many years, this was disgraceful."
